8-56 CHASSISCALIPER REMOVAL• Remove the brake hose from the caliper by removing theunion bolt 1 and catch the brake fluid in a suitable receptacle.NOTE:Place a rag underneath the union bolt on the brake caliper tocatch any split brake fluid.• Remove the brake caliper.• Remove the brake pads. (8-54)Never reuse the brake fluid left over from previousservicing and stored for long periods of time.Brake fluid, if it leaks, will interfere with safe runningand discolor painted surfaces. Check the brake hoseand hose joints for cracks and fluid leakage.CALIPER DISASSEMBLY• Remove the caliper air bleeder valve 1.• Remove the pad spring 2.• Separate the caliper halves by removing the caliper housingbolts with the special tools. 09930-11920: Torx bit JT40H09930-11940: Bit holder• Remove the O-ring 3.Replace the O-ring with a new one.• Place a rag over the pistons to prevent it from popping outand then force out the pistons using compressed air.Avoid using high pressure air to prevent piston damage.
