ENGINE 3-41CLUTCH BEARING INSPECTION• Inspect the clutch release bearing for any abnormality, particularlycracks, to decide whether it can be reused or should bereplaced.• Smooth engagement and disengagement of the clutchdepends on the condition of this bearing.CLUTCH SLEEVE HUB/PRIMARY DRIVEN GEAR ASSEMBLY• Inspect the slot of the clutch sleeve hub and primary drivengear assembly for damage or wear caused by the clutchplates. If necessary, replace it with a new one.OIL PUMPINSPECTION• Rotate the oil pump by hand and check that it movessmoothly.• If it does not move smoothly, replace the oil pump assembly.* Do not attempt to disassemble the oil pump assembly.* The oil pump is available only as an assembly.STARTER CLUTCHINSPECTION• Install the starter driven gear 1 onto the starter clutch 2.• Turn the starter driven gear by hand.• Inspect the starter clutch for a smooth movement.• Inspect that the gear turns one direction only.
