174Coursework AssessmentMost of the courses have a coursework element. The percentage assigned to coursework is indicated atthe end of each course description and will be incorporated into the final grade for each course asappropriate.FieldworkFor second-year students majoring in Geography in 2002-2003, they must take the requiredmethodological course 'GEOG3028 Overseas field trip' which would take place in the summer of2003 after they have completed their second year of study. This course is assessed on the basis of a fieldtrip report.Honours DissertationIt is an option for major students to take the 12 credits course GEOG3009 Honours dissertation.Students are strongly advised to do this course as it provides them with a good opportunity and valuabletraining in pursuing a piece of research work of their own choice through their own efforts and under theclose supervision of a teacher.
