174Coursework AssessmentMost <strong>of</strong> the courses have a coursework element. <strong>The</strong> percentage assigned to coursework is indicated atthe end <strong>of</strong> each course description and will be incorporated into the final grade for each course asappropriate.FieldworkFor second-year students majoring in Geography in 2002-2003, they must take the requiredmethodological course 'GEOG3028 Overseas field trip' which would take place in the summer <strong>of</strong>2003 after they have completed their second year <strong>of</strong> study. This course is assessed on the basis <strong>of</strong> a fieldtrip report.Honours DissertationIt is an option for major students to take the 12 credits course GEOG3009 Honours dissertation.Students are strongly advised to do this course as it provides them with a good opportunity and valuabletraining in pursuing a piece <strong>of</strong> research work <strong>of</strong> their own choice through their own efforts and under theclose supervision <strong>of</strong> a teacher.
