EUROPEAN STUDIES CORE COURSEEUST1001.Introduction to European Studies (6 credits)(This course is also offered to first year non-BA students for inter-Faculty broadening purposes.)The principal focus of this course will be the development of the 'idea of Europe' in a historical contextand more particularly the establishment and growth of the European Union during the late twentiethcentury. Using this focus the course will consider questions of broad interdisciplinary interest toprovide a strong foundation for students who wish to pursue a major in European Studies in their secondand third years. This course will also be of interest to students who do not wish to take the EuropeanStudies major but who would like to learn more about the role of the European Union in the twenty-firstcentury.
