Use <strong>of</strong> informationtechnology is an integral part <strong>of</strong> the course.Assessment: 100% coursework.ECEN2202.Pr<strong>of</strong>essional English for <strong>Arts</strong> students (3 credits)This course aims to prepare students to present themselves in a pr<strong>of</strong>essional manner in English in theworkplace environment in <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong>. Students will develop oral skills essential to businesscommunication, as used in telephoning, interviews and oral presentations. <strong>The</strong>y will also learn andpractice principles <strong>of</strong> effective written communication by writing, for example, a resume and letters.Throughout the course, students will explore and experience the use <strong>of</strong> English in the workplacethrough direct contact with employers. Use <strong>of</strong> information technology is an integral part <strong>of</strong> the course.Assessment: 100% coursework.INTERDISCIPLINARY MINORSStarting from the academic year 2001-02, candidates in the second year <strong>of</strong> the curriculum may selectcourses from the lists specified in the syllabuses to satisfy the requirements for up to twointerdisciplinary minors but shall not be permitted to take more than 12 credits from onedepartment/programme to satisfy the requirements <strong>of</strong> one minor. <strong>The</strong> same course shall not be taken t<strong>of</strong>ulfil the requirements for a major and a minor, or for two minors.
