Introduction to mecatronics
Summary
In the early 1970s with the development of IT segment it was clear that the mechanical,
electrical and information technology subsystems of a product could not
be discussed separately any more. Consequently a new special field, mecharonics
was born for product and process engineering of new products.
This concept is applied at Sapientia University, Mechatronics Department as
well. The present book is a collection of information supporting the Introduction to
Mechatronics lecture, and although it does not primarily deal with the concept of
mechatronics, it comes to support and completes other lectures of Mechatronics
study line.
Next to a general system definition, mathematical modeling of systems are also
enumerated and numerical simulation possibilities are mentioned. Furthermore,
two chapters describe pneumatic and hydraulic elements and systems, as well as
their control possibilities: hydrostatic systems, electromechanical systems and the
use of programmable logic controllers. More details of these last equipments are
offered in the last chapter.
Designing rules of these control systems are presented through examples
which involve the same process. Thus this book, in which the similarities and
differences of various methods are obvious, is a practical reading not only for
students but also for engineers of different domains.
