Damals wie heute Der Bergsommer ist da. Dort, wo im Winter passionierte Skisportler ihre Schwünge ziehen, zeigen sich nun blühende Wiesen von ihrer schönsten Seite. Langläufer im Zugertal wandeln sich zu Golfspielern, die auf Österreichs höchstem Platz abschlagen und E-Biker erkunden die einzigartige Natur dort, wo noch vor wenigen Monaten meterhoch Schnee lag. Wenn man beim diesjährigen Stammgästetreffen treue Urlauber dazu befragen würde, wäre die Antwort womöglich: „Vor 30 Jahren war das alles noch eine Vision!“ Heute bietet die Arlbergdestination im Sommer neben abwechslungsreichen Sportmöglichkeiten auch einige hochkarätige Kulturveranstaltungen: Angefangen vom traditionellen Arlberger Musikfest bis hin zum renommierten Philosophicum. Bei all den Veränderungen ist Lech Zürs jedoch immer seiner Identität treu geblieben und wird auch in Zukunft ein Refugium für private „luxury moments“ sein.

the community has become an indispensable<br />
part of it: Ludwig Muxel. He has been facing the<br />
challenges of his job as a mayor for 24 years,<br />
takes important decisions and represents the<br />
community to the world. In his interview with<br />
<strong>La</strong> <strong>Loupe</strong> the 62-year-old native from <strong>Lech</strong><br />
speaks about how important regulars are,<br />
the Arlberg’s cosmopolitan attitude, and<br />
interconnectedness in times of the internet.<br />
L.L. Mr Muxel, you have been the mayor of <strong>Lech</strong> for<br />
24 years now. If you look back, what are you particularly<br />
proud of?<br />
L.M. I am happy that we here in <strong>Lech</strong> <strong>Zürs</strong> have managed to<br />
not only become known as a winter sports destination but also<br />
as an internationally renowned location for arts and culture.<br />
We have been successfully hosting Philosophicum <strong>Lech</strong> for more<br />
than 20 years, the <strong>Lech</strong> Classic Festival presents amazing artists<br />
and new guests and Medicinicum <strong>Lech</strong>, which takes place in<br />
summer, is also very well established by now. In terms of art<br />
we were able to realise a much-noticed Antony Gormley project<br />
and we managed to get James Turrell for the Sky Space Project.<br />
These projects prove <strong>Lech</strong> <strong>Zürs</strong>’ high aspiration in the cultural<br />
sphere, too, which is something I feel is very important.<br />
Sport & Freizeit<br />
L.L. Between July 8 and 16 2017 there’s a big regulars’<br />
meeting in <strong>Lech</strong> – all guests who have been coming to<br />
<strong>Lech</strong> <strong>Zürs</strong> for ten or more years will be awarded a badge<br />
of honour. What significance do this particular group of<br />
holidaymakers have for the region?<br />
L.M. We here in <strong>Lech</strong> <strong>Zürs</strong> can be a bit old-fashioned<br />
sometimes. When it comes to maintaining our personal<br />
relationships, for example. Most of our most successful hotels<br />
are family run. They represent people who work with a lot of<br />
passion and commitment – and as a result the bonds that are<br />
forged with the guests are informal and friendly. Our regulars<br />
are more than just guests who spend their holiday with us. In<br />
many cases they have become friends, they take part in the<br />
community’s development and of course they also are the<br />
best ambassadors <strong>Lech</strong> <strong>Zürs</strong> could wish for, and we value that<br />
very much.<br />
L.L. In 1997 you and Michael Köhlmeier initiated Philosophicum<br />
<strong>Lech</strong>, a meeting place and a space for philosophical<br />
exchange. Where did the idea for the symposium come from<br />
and what moment was most memorable in 20 years of<br />
Philosophicum <strong>Lech</strong>?<br />
L.M. Back then we had just published the book ‘Die Leute<br />
von <strong>Lech</strong>’ (= the people of <strong>Lech</strong>) – a wonderful book about<br />
<strong>Lech</strong> and its particularities, by the way. Did you know that<br />
