Damals wie heute Der Bergsommer ist da. Dort, wo im Winter passionierte Skisportler ihre Schwünge ziehen, zeigen sich nun blühende Wiesen von ihrer schönsten Seite. Langläufer im Zugertal wandeln sich zu Golfspielern, die auf Österreichs höchstem Platz abschlagen und E-Biker erkunden die einzigartige Natur dort, wo noch vor wenigen Monaten meterhoch Schnee lag. Wenn man beim diesjährigen Stammgästetreffen treue Urlauber dazu befragen würde, wäre die Antwort womöglich: „Vor 30 Jahren war das alles noch eine Vision!“ Heute bietet die Arlbergdestination im Sommer neben abwechslungsreichen Sportmöglichkeiten auch einige hochkarätige Kulturveranstaltungen: Angefangen vom traditionellen Arlberger Musikfest bis hin zum renommierten Philosophicum. Bei all den Veränderungen ist Lech Zürs jedoch immer seiner Identität treu geblieben und wird auch in Zukunft ein Refugium für private „luxury moments“ sein.

impression that the village on the Arlberg is a bit isolated in<br />
the middle of the Alps – is this why international exchange of<br />
ideas is all the more important? What does the forum mean<br />
to <strong>Lech</strong>?<br />
L.M. Actually for me it’s quite the contrary, we often get the<br />
impression that <strong>Lech</strong> lies right at the heart of Europe because<br />
we get so many top representatives from economy, politics,<br />
culture and society who like to spend their holidays here.<br />
Active cosmopolitanism is a big topic for us in <strong>Lech</strong> <strong>Zürs</strong>.<br />
We are an international destination and passionate hosts for<br />
people from all over the world. Europaforum<br />
with its famous guests is an annual<br />
affirmation that we as an alpine village<br />
are a vibrant community at the heart of<br />
Europe. This openness has coined both<br />
our tourism and the people.<br />
L.L. <strong>Lech</strong> has been officially certified as<br />
a family-friendly community since 2015.<br />
This makes the village on the Arlberg one<br />
of the few tourism destinations that have<br />
decided to conform to the comprehensive<br />
regulations. Do you get the impression<br />
that locals often get overlooked in<br />
tourism regions? How can a liveable space<br />
be created for both locals and guests?<br />
L.M. The answer to these questions is<br />
very simple: When the locals feel at home<br />
in the village, the guests will like it too.<br />
In the past decades, we have done a lot<br />
to improve the quality of life for <strong>Lech</strong>’s<br />
inhabitants. The community has built<br />
affordable housing for the locals, we are<br />
building a new, modern school right now, our sports park<br />
offers numerous activities and we have an active village life<br />
and many clubs. We want to be a family-friendly community<br />
for the locals and our guests. We secure our future by making<br />
sure the next generation loves <strong>Lech</strong> <strong>Zürs</strong> too.<br />
L.L. <strong>Lech</strong> <strong>Zürs</strong> is in a continuous development process.<br />
What projects would you like to see realised in the future?<br />
What plans do you have for the Arlberg community?<br />
L.M. At the moment we are quite busy with an important<br />
project – we are realising the so-called village reception,<br />
a modern building at the centre of <strong>Lech</strong> where the post is<br />
situated at the moment. This new building will once more cater<br />
to the needs of both locals and guests. The project has been<br />
on our minds for 20 years and we are glad that now, after an<br />
international architectural tender process, we are going to<br />
start with its realisation.<br />
L.L. Mr Muxel, are you a 24/7 mayor or do you have a private<br />
life, too? What do you like doing during your free time?<br />
L.M. I enjoy the same things our guests like – our nature,<br />
culture, and surroundings. In order to unwind I like hiking in<br />
the mountains, I enjoy reading a good book in a quiet moment,<br />
and spending time with my grandchildren.<br />
