Drunken Domination (Sp): This power requires 5 minutes<br />

of uninterrupted ef<strong>for</strong>t, but it allows the grymkin to take control<br />

of anyone within 100 feet who has been drinking at least<br />

three stiff drinks within the last hour and fails a Will save (DC<br />

16). The effect’s caster level is 9th. The DC is Charisma-based.<br />

This power is similar to dominate, allowing a bonus <strong>for</strong> actions<br />

against the person’s nature. However, there is a cumulative -1<br />

penalty <strong>for</strong> each drink past three drinks consumed. Another 5<br />

minutes of uninterrupted ef<strong>for</strong>t are required to switch targets.<br />

Shape-change (Su): Twice per day the cask imp can turn<br />

its body into liquid, usually used to enter a cask of alcohol.<br />

Turning into a liquid requires a move-equivalent action, and<br />

they can be harmed in this <strong>for</strong>m. They can return to their normal<br />

shape at will.<br />

Skills: Cask imps have a +8 racial bonus to Swim checks.<br />

A cask imp can always take 10 on Swim checks even if rushed<br />

or threatened.<br />

Treasure<br />

Cask imps sometimes steal and stash fine bottles of wine,<br />

brandy, and other liquors. These stashes are difficult to find<br />

unless the grymkin is followed or captured and <strong>for</strong>ced to bargain<br />

<strong>for</strong> its freedom. Their taste in alcohol is impeccable, and<br />

they will always steal the most expensive bottles available.<br />

Cask Imp<br />

Legends & Lore<br />

CoMMoN: Cask imps are alcoholic supernatural creatures<br />

that break into taverns <strong>for</strong> beer and wine.<br />

UNCoMMoN: These things are actually grymkin, a nasty<br />

<strong>for</strong>m of fey. As their name suggests, they live inside casks<br />

of alcohol.<br />

RARE: Cask imps can control the minds of drunken people<br />

near them and can turn into liquid to help them escape.<br />

obSCURE: They keep secret stashes of valuables and can be<br />

<strong>for</strong>ced to give these up if caught. Some cask imps can turn<br />

water into fine brandy if chained with silver and immersed.<br />

Hooks<br />

• The best way to spring cask imps on a party is while they<br />

are celebrating in a local tavern. This works best if one PC is<br />

recruited to participate as the dominated drunk.<br />

• Several particularly malicious cask imps inhabit a Corvis<br />

tavern, which has since earned a bad reputation. The PCs are<br />

hired by the nervous proprietor to find out what is behind this<br />

be<strong>for</strong>e the city council shuts him down.<br />
