low said, I ara able to destroy <strong>the</strong> temple of God,<br />

and to build it in three days.''<br />

It is <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>stant practice of <strong>the</strong> envious and un-<br />

just, to change <strong>the</strong> words of those whom <strong>the</strong>y do not<br />

love, and so make <strong>the</strong>m <strong>the</strong> heads of <strong>the</strong>ir accusati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

It is easy, by means of a few small alterati<strong>on</strong>s, to<br />

render <strong>the</strong> most holy truths, and <strong>the</strong> most innocent<br />

pers<strong>on</strong>s, odious to <strong>the</strong> world. O sacred humanity<br />

of Jesus, thou art truly <strong>the</strong> temple of God, built up<br />

by <strong>the</strong> mystery of thy incarnati<strong>on</strong>, destroyed <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

" 63. But Jesus held his peace. And <strong>the</strong> high<br />

priest answered and said unto him, I adjure <strong>the</strong>e by<br />

<strong>the</strong> living God, that thou tell us whe<strong>the</strong>r thou be<br />
