the west side, where at three-quarters of a cable distant there is a sunken<br />

rock having 3 feet water. Pulo Plando, a small islet, 7 feet high, lies nearly<br />

midway between North-west islet and Great Binding.<br />

North Point.—<strong>The</strong> shore of Great Binding, between North-west<br />

point and North point, is bordered by a shoal flat, which extending from<br />

either point forms a tongue, the extremity of which is nearly midway<br />

between the two points, and extends off shore a distance of 1^ cables.<br />

On the outer end of this tongue is Grasshopper islet, 120 feet high and<br />

wooded.<br />

OflF-lying rock, 2 feet high, occupying a shoal space of half a cable<br />

in extent, east and west, lies East 2 cables from North point. Midway<br />

between the rock and the shore there are depths of 5 to 8 fathoms.<br />

Telok "Da.l g.m (Shoal bay) is formed between a point which is<br />

half a mile south-east of North point, and Scorpion point. At the head of<br />

the bay there is a fishing village and a cocoa nut grove. <strong>The</strong> bay is shoal,<br />

having only from 6 to 9 feet water on a line joining the entrance points.<br />

A spit extends about 2 cables eastward and northward of Scorpion point.<br />

Cliarybdis rock, a pinnacle having a depth of 2 feet, lies 1^<br />

cables north from Scorpion point. <strong>The</strong> ground is foul between.<br />

Bower patch., having a depth of 15 feet, is about half a cable in<br />

diameter, marked by a buoy on its north side, and lies N. by W. J W.,<br />

distant 3 cables from Scorpion point. <strong>The</strong> summit of North-west islet, in<br />

line with North point, leads on to Bower patch. <strong>The</strong> summit midway<br />

between North point and off-lying islet, leads north of Bower patch in 4<br />

fathoms least water.<br />

Table rock, 22 feet high, is situated one mile south-east of Scorpion<br />

point, and about one cable from the south point of Telok Churapada, a<br />

shallow bay.<br />

<strong>The</strong> east shore of Great Binding from Table rock, trends south, and at<br />

the distance of one cable outside the small bays formed in its shores not<br />

less than 6 fathoms water will be found.<br />

% Port Pangkor,—<strong>The</strong> settlement at Port Pangkor, situated one mile<br />

southward of Table rock, consists of a police station and a few houses<br />

scattered on the beach. <strong>The</strong> ground in the vicinity is swampy.<br />

Small vessels may be readily and safely grounded for examination or<br />

slight repairs between tides. Labour may be obtained.<br />

East bank commences at Mehegan point, and skirting the shore for<br />

about one mile to the southward, thence trends to the westward and north-<br />

ward in a long narrow tongue, dry in places; the north point of the tongue<br />

of 3 fathoms, immediately in the approach to Binding river, is marked by<br />

a buoy, with Menegan point bearing S.E. by E. distant one mile. East<br />

bank skirts the mainland as far as Tanjong Katta; its western edge froin
