Domino Hill, or Budiaug island, is about 2 miles in extent,<br />

and a peaked hill near its centre bears "W. by S. i S. 4 miles from East<br />

Domino.<br />

Great Domino or Kongka Island lies about 3| miles northwest<br />

of Domino hill island; it is moderately elevated and appears about 4<br />

miles in length. Off its south-east point are two islets named Mavas, and'<br />

off its north-west point are two others, named Sarus or Blaiding.<br />

Crocodile rock, about 15 feet high, lies ¥.E. | N. 4 miles from a<br />

conspicuous conical hill on Great Domino.<br />

Brisbane shoal, on which the English barque Brisbane struck in<br />

187,6, lies N.W. by W. f W. 2\ miles from Crocodile rock ; it is com-<br />

posed of coarse sand, about one mile in extent, with 2 fathoms water,<br />

6 to 7 fathoms close around, and depths of 6 to 8 fathoms between it<br />

and Crocodile rock.<br />

A coral reef about three-quarters of a mile long, 70 yards<br />

broad, and awash at low water, is said to lie about 2 miles W. by S. from<br />

Crocodile rock ; between this reef and Great Domino island, there is a<br />

channel 2 miles wide with 7 to 1 1 fathoms water,<br />

Kintar Island.—Three other islands with one or two adjacent<br />

islets extend from 4 to 8 miles in a north-westerly direction from Great<br />

Domino. <strong>The</strong> large island next northward of Great Domino, named<br />

Kintar, has on its southern end a high bluff, and when coming from the<br />

northward, before the adjacent islands to the southward are visible, it much<br />

resembles the hill on the east end of Linga.*<br />

A rock with 3 feet water lies K-W., distant 2 miles from Pulo Kapas, a<br />

small islet surrounded by a reef, and the north-westernmost of the group<br />

extending from Kintar.<br />

Ply bank; the position of which is doubtful, is a small patch of 2<br />

fathoms, with 9 to 13 fathoms close-to, said to lie IST.N.W. | W. lOJ miles<br />

from Crocodile rock, with the high bluff of Kintar bearing South, distant<br />

7J miles, and Pulo Kapas S.W. by W. \ W. 5| miles.<br />

Pollux rock, a patch of 2 fathoms, with 10 and 11 fathoms close-to,<br />

lies If.W. about 4 miles from Ply bank, with the high bluff of Kintar<br />

bearing S. by E. ^ E. 11 miles.<br />

RODONG PEAK.—Prom 20 to 30 miles northward of Linga<br />

island are many small islands. <strong>The</strong> most conspicuous of them is Pulo<br />

Eodong, or Merodong, which has a high conical peak, about 800 feet above<br />

the sea, the onlyhiU of this feature in the vicinity. This peak is one of the<br />

principal objects which will enable a stranger to make out the entrance to<br />
