SYSTEM OPERATION-OXYGEN SENSOR<br />

The oxygen sensor measures the amount of<br />

oxygen in the exhaust gases. As the sensor<br />

measures the exhaust gas, it produces an electrical<br />

signal which informs the Lambda ECU module if<br />

the engine is running richer or leaner than the<br />

"ideal" air-fuel mixture ratio.<br />

The sensor is mounted in the exhaust pipe in a<br />

position where it will monitor the exhaust gas from<br />

both cylinder banks before it enters the catalytic<br />

converter. Fig. 22.<br />
