Brakes, Wheels and Tyres<br />

REMOVAL<br />

1. Remove brake disc pads as previously<br />

described.<br />

2. Disconnect brake line at caliper and cap.<br />

3. Remove two bolts securing the disc caliper<br />

assembly to the hub carrier and remove<br />

caliper. (Fig. 5)<br />

NOTE: Any shims removed between the<br />

mounting faces should be noted so they can be<br />

replaced in the same position upon<br />

installation.<br />

INSTALLATION<br />

1. To complete installation, reverse the removal<br />

procedure.<br />

2. Torque fasteners to specification and bleed<br />

brake system.<br />

UNIT DISASSEMBLY<br />

1. Remove the caliper assembly as previously<br />

described.<br />

2. Remove caliper piston dust cover retaining<br />

ring and remove piston dust covers. (Fig. 6)<br />

3. Pack a clean piece of shop towel between the<br />

pistons and then drive them from the cylinder<br />

bores by applying clean compressed shop air<br />

to the inlet connection.<br />

CAUTION: Care should be exercised that<br />

fingers are kept well clear from the gap area<br />

and eye protection should also be worn as<br />

there may be fluid spray.<br />

4. Remove piston sealing ring from bore.<br />

NOTICE: Care should be exercised not to<br />

damage the bore or locating groove.<br />

5. Remove dust cap and unscrew bleed screw.<br />

FRONT BRAKE CALIPER<br />

NOTICE: No attempt should be made to<br />

remove the bolts and separate the two halves<br />

of the caliper body.<br />

INSPECTION<br />

1. Clean all parts thoroughly with Girling cleaning<br />

fluid or fresh, clean specified brake fluid. (DOT<br />

4 only).<br />

2. Examine the cylinder bores and pistons<br />

carefully for signs of damage, abrasion,<br />

scuffing or corrosion. New pistons may be
