REMOVAL<br />

Brakes, Wheels and Tyres<br />

NOTE: Manual Transmission — (Fig. 11) — this<br />

procedure may be performed wth the pedal box<br />

installed; Automatic Transmission — (Fig, 12) —<br />

the pedal must first be removed from the car.<br />

1. Remove the spring clip and clevis pin<br />

connecting the brake pedal.<br />

2. Remove the spring clip retaining the pedal<br />

shaft from the right side of the pedal box.<br />

3. Move the pedal shaft towards the left hand<br />

side (at the same time inserting a short bar or<br />

screwdriver to retain the accelerator pedal)<br />

sufficiently to release the brake pedal.<br />

4. The pedal pivot bushes may be replaced by<br />

knocking out the old bushes and pressing in<br />

the new.<br />

BRAKE PEDAL<br />

INSTALLATION<br />

1. Lubricate the brake pedal pivot bushes with<br />

SMP white lithium based grease.<br />

2. Smear the relay link clevis pin with a<br />

molybdenum based grease and lightly oil the<br />

shaft retaining clip and felt washer.<br />

3. Position the brake pedal in the pedal box and<br />

push the pedal shaft through brake pedal,<br />

accelerator pedal, felt washer, plain washer<br />

and into the 'D' shaped hole in the pedal box.<br />

Retain with screw.<br />

4. Connect the relay link to the brake pedal lever<br />

with the clevis pin and retain with its spring<br />

clip.<br />

5. Wipe any excess lubricant from the assembly<br />

and ensure that all pedal pads are totally grease<br />

free.<br />
