TIGHTENING<br />

This operation is carried out when the cylinder<br />

heads are fitted with new gaskets.<br />

Pre-torque tighten all bolts to 15 lb/ft (20 Nm)<br />

then to 45 lb/ft (60 Nm) in the correct sequence<br />

to compress the head gaskets.<br />

Loosen bolt No. 1 and retorque. Tighten it to 15<br />

Ib'ft (20 Nm).<br />

Repeat the above on each bolt in the tightening<br />

sequence shown opposite.<br />

Slip the graduated disc over the socket before<br />

fitting the torque wrench and lock it as previously.<br />

Adjust the mobile pointer to angular tightening<br />

value 115°.<br />

Tighten bolt No. 1 until the moving pointer<br />

reaches "0".<br />

Repeat the above operation on each bolt in the<br />

sequence shown.<br />

Then commence "retightening" operations after<br />

running the engine.<br />

Clearances with engine cold.<br />

inlet: 0.10 (.004")<br />

exhaust: 0.25 (.010")<br />

FIRST METHOD<br />

Adjust the rocker arms on eacn cylinder head in turn.<br />
