REMOVAL<br />

1. Raise car on hoist.<br />

2. Remove tyre and wheel assembly.<br />

Front Suspension J:07:01<br />

LOWER BALL JOINT - RIGHT OR LEFT<br />

3. With front suspension at full travel, remove nut<br />

securing lower ball joint to steering knuckle<br />

and separate ball joint from steering knuckle.<br />

Suspend upper control arm and steering<br />

knuckle assembly inside the wheel opening and<br />

position out of the way.<br />

4. Disconnect and remove stabilizer bar.<br />

5. Remove shock absorber lower mounting<br />

through bolt and nut. Remove shock absorber<br />

upper mounting nut and remove shock<br />

absorber.<br />

6. Place jack stands under lower control arm and<br />

lower car sufficient enough to compress coil<br />

spring, using a suitable spring compressing<br />

tool. Raise car and remove spring.<br />

7. Remove lower control arm pivot bolt and<br />

remove control arm from car.<br />

8. Working on bench, remove the lower ball joint<br />

protective boot and remove lower ball joint<br />

retaining snap ring.<br />

9. Press ball joint from control arm. Fig. 12<br />

INSTALLATION<br />

1. Press new ball joint into lower control arm.<br />

2. Install ball joint retaining snap ring and install<br />

new boot.<br />

3. To complete installation, reverse the removal<br />

procedures. Torque fasteners to specification<br />

and fill lower ball joint with grease via the<br />

fitting.
