5. Remove the reverse shift fork.<br />

NOTE: The detent ball is spring loaded and will<br />

fly out when the shaft is removed.<br />

6. Remove the reverse shift rod from the case.<br />

7. Remove the reverse light switch from the case.<br />

8. Extract the detent ball and spring.<br />

REASSEMBLY<br />

NOTE: The reverse shaft detent spring is shorter<br />

than the other detent springs.<br />

f. Insert the reverse shaft detent spring and ball<br />

into the half-casing through the reverse lights<br />

switch.<br />

2. Depress the ball with a drift and insert the<br />

reverse shaft.<br />

3. Install the reverse shift fork with the end of the<br />

arm fitted in slot on shaft.<br />

4. Install the wave washer on the locking bolt and<br />

fasten fork to the case. Torque tighten the<br />

bolt.<br />

NOTE: The 3rd-4th and the 1st-2nd detent<br />

springs are the same length.<br />

5. Insert the 3rd-4th detent spring and ball into<br />

the half-casing.<br />

6. Depress the detent ball with a drift and insert<br />

the 3rd-4th shift rod into the case.<br />

NOTE: When installing the rollpins, the gap in<br />

the pin must face towards the rear cover.<br />

7. Fit the 3rd-4th shift fork on, the shift rod and<br />

insert the rollpin.<br />

8. Insert the 1st-2nd detent spring and ball into<br />

the half-case.<br />

NOTE: When installing the rollpins, the gap in<br />

the pin must face towards the rear cover.<br />

9. Fit the 1st-2nd shift fork and damping spring<br />

on the rod and insert the rottpins
