Study the impact of matching on base shot noise. Use the 15x transistor defined<br />

in Table 3.1, which is operated at 2 mA at 1 GHz.<br />

Solution<br />

The small-signal model and calculated matching impedances are shown in Figure<br />

4.14. The transistor has an input impedance of 1,250� in parallel with 700<br />

fF, which at 1 GHz is equal to Z� = 40 − j220�. Using this and the base<br />

resistance of 5�, the impedance seen by the base shot noise source can be<br />
