difficulty spell<strong>in</strong>g non-words <strong>in</strong> basel<strong>in</strong>e measures, for example, target –<br />

TROKE, response = TRUCTHRO, target – CHURSE, response = CHYRCH.<br />

Although predicted that he would have difficulty spell<strong>in</strong>g non-words (see Table<br />

5.10) only 25% <strong>of</strong> his written nam<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> the new words had spell<strong>in</strong>g errors and<br />

these errors were closer to the target words than basel<strong>in</strong>e measure attempts at<br />

spell<strong>in</strong>g non-words, for example, target – PONCHINO, response = PUNCHINO,<br />

target – WANGOR, response = WANDOR. This suggests that many <strong>of</strong> these<br />

new words were now stored as ‘familiar’ words <strong>in</strong> his lexicon. As expected P3’s<br />

age or mild cognitive impairment did not appear to have major impact upon his<br />

learn<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
