5.14.2.2 Delayed recall<br />

C9 was unable to demonstrate her retention <strong>of</strong> learn<strong>in</strong>g though spoken or written<br />

recall despite receiv<strong>in</strong>g 20 syllable cues. She did, however, match the correct<br />

number <strong>of</strong> syllables for 11 new words and matched the <strong>in</strong>itial syllables <strong>of</strong> four<br />

new words to their correct f<strong>in</strong>al syllable. C9 also matched seven new words<br />

(listen<strong>in</strong>g) and two new words (read<strong>in</strong>g) to their correct picture.<br />

5.14.2.3 Summary <strong>of</strong> new learn<strong>in</strong>g<br />

C9 recalled 24% <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>formation for immediate recall and 18% for delayed recall<br />

tasks, reta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g 74% <strong>of</strong> orig<strong>in</strong>ally learned <strong>in</strong>formation. When consider<strong>in</strong>g the<br />

<strong>in</strong>fluence <strong>of</strong> chance the data was analysed, <strong>in</strong> particular FUTARG and<br />

HAMEKIN. C9 matched FUTARG correctly to its picture for listen<strong>in</strong>g and read<strong>in</strong>g<br />

tasks (immediate recall) and listen<strong>in</strong>g tasks <strong>in</strong> delayed recall. HAMEKIN was<br />

matched to the correct picture for listen<strong>in</strong>g and read<strong>in</strong>g tasks (immediate and<br />

delayed recall) and the correct number <strong>of</strong> syllables were chosen as well as <strong>in</strong>itial<br />

to f<strong>in</strong>al syllables, <strong>in</strong>dicat<strong>in</strong>g new learn<strong>in</strong>g for these two words.<br />
