5.7.2.2 Delayed recall<br />

As presented <strong>in</strong> Table 5.13, C2 recalled three <strong>of</strong> the newly learned words <strong>in</strong><br />

spoken form (two <strong>of</strong> these had not been recalled <strong>in</strong> spoken form <strong>in</strong> immediate<br />

recall assessments) and two <strong>of</strong> these had phonemic errors. He also recalled four<br />

<strong>of</strong> the new words <strong>in</strong> written form. However, C2 was able to match the <strong>in</strong>itial<br />

syllables <strong>of</strong> 19 words with their f<strong>in</strong>al syllable <strong>in</strong>dicat<strong>in</strong>g that he still reta<strong>in</strong>ed the<br />

word form knowledge but required additional <strong>in</strong>formation about the new words to<br />

aid recall. He also matched 19 creatures to their names for the listen<strong>in</strong>g wordpicture<br />

match<strong>in</strong>g task and 20 creatures for the read<strong>in</strong>g form <strong>of</strong> this task. The<br />

results <strong>in</strong>dicated that although C2 required additional <strong>in</strong>formation to retrieve the<br />

new word forms and mean<strong>in</strong>gs he had reta<strong>in</strong>ed knowledge <strong>of</strong> the new<br />

vocabulary that he had orig<strong>in</strong>ally learned.<br />

5.7.2.3 Summary <strong>of</strong> new learn<strong>in</strong>g<br />

C2 demonstrated learn<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> the new vocabulary by recall<strong>in</strong>g 89% <strong>of</strong> new<br />

<strong>in</strong>formation for the immediate recall assessment tasks. He demonstrated longterm<br />

retention <strong>of</strong> this <strong>in</strong>formation recall<strong>in</strong>g 59% <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>formation <strong>in</strong> delayed recall<br />
