would be a worthy pursuit. The lack of clay deposits geologically also suggests that the<br />
technology that arrived with the norse settlers had been adapted to their new environment. It<br />
has been suggested already that furnaces were constructed of turf, a suggestion that requires<br />
further empirical investigation.<br />
