11 FIRMWARE UPGRADE<br />

Send “force-to-monitor” command (TSIP or NMEA depending on the<br />

port used);<br />

Wait 0.5 secs to let the target switch to the monitor mode;<br />

Establish connection to target using Monitor mode protocol:<br />

Send hand-shaking packet ENQ;<br />

Wait for response packet ACK;<br />

If ACK packet not received:<br />

Exit/power-cycle target and repeat from beginning;<br />

If the local host’s hardware can support it, change Monitor mode<br />

baud rate and local serial port settings to 115200 baud for faster<br />

loading:<br />

Send “Change Baud” packet 0x86;<br />

Wait 0.5 secs<br />

Change local serial port settings;<br />

Send hand-shaking packet ENQ;<br />

Wait for response packet ACK;<br />

If ACK packet not received:<br />

Exit/power-cycle target and repeat from beginning;<br />

Send “Erase Firmware” packet 0x8F;<br />

Wait for response packet ACK;<br />

If ACK packet not received:<br />

Exit/power-cycle target and repeat from beginning;<br />

Send “Start Firmware Programming” packet 0x8B;<br />

Wait for response packet ACK;<br />

If ACK packet not received:<br />

Exit/power-cycle target and repeat from beginning;<br />

Send firmware data bytes, one word (2 bytes) at a time. For faster loading, data<br />

can be sent up to 200 bytes at a time (must be a multiple of 2 bytes).<br />

Wait for response packet ACK after all data has been sent;<br />

If NAK packet received:<br />

Try again starting with the “Erase Firmware” step;<br />

If ACK packet not received at all:<br />

Power-cycle target and repeat from beginning;<br />

Send “Restart Target” packet 0x8C;<br />

Loading was successful;<br />
