As Amended Through 15 March 2012emergency resupply — A resupply mission that occurs based on a predetermined set <strong>of</strong>circumstances <strong>and</strong> time interval should radio contact not be established or, onceestablished, is lost between a special operations tactical element <strong>and</strong> its base. (<strong>JP</strong> 3-05.1)emergency support functions — A grouping <strong>of</strong> government <strong>and</strong> certain private-sectorcapabilities into an organizational structure to provide the support, resources, programimplementation, <strong>and</strong> services that are most likely to be needed to save lives, protectproperty <strong>and</strong> the environment, restore essential services <strong>and</strong> critical infrastructure, <strong>and</strong>help victims <strong>and</strong> communities return to normal, when feasible, following domesticincidents. Also called ESFs. (<strong>JP</strong> 3-28)emission control — The selective <strong>and</strong> controlled use <strong>of</strong> electromagnetic, acoustic, or otheremitters to optimize comm<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> control capabilities while minimizing, for operationssecurity: a. detection by enemy sensors; b. mutual interference among friendlysystems; <strong>and</strong>/or c. enemy interference with the ability to execute a military deceptionplan. (<strong>JP</strong> 5-0)enabling force — Early deploying forces that establish critical capabilities to facilitatedeployment <strong>and</strong> initial employment (including sustainment) <strong>of</strong> a force. (<strong>JP</strong> 4-08)end evening civil twilight — The time period when the sun has dropped 6 degrees beneaththe western horizon; it is the instant at which there is no longer sufficient light to seeobjects with the unaided eye. Light intensification devices are recommended from thistime until begin morning civil twilight. Also called EECT.end item — A final combination <strong>of</strong> end products, component parts, <strong>and</strong>/or materials that isready for its intended use, e.g., ship, tank, mobile machine shop, or aircraft.end <strong>of</strong> evening nautical twilight — Occurs when the sun has dropped 12 degrees below thewestern horizon, <strong>and</strong> is the instant <strong>of</strong> last available daylight for the visual control <strong>of</strong>limited ground operations. At end <strong>of</strong> evening nautical twilight there is no furthersunlight available.
