An action to divert, disrupt, delay, or destroy the enemy’s military surfacecapability before it can be used effectively against friendly forces, or to otherwiseachieve objectives. 2. In support of law enforcement, activities conducted to divert,disrupt, delay, intercept, board, detain, or destroy, under lawful authority, vessels,vehicles, aircraft, people, cargo, and money. Also called IGO. (JP 3-08)intermediate maintenance (field) — Maintenance that is the responsibility of andperformed by designated maintenance activities for direct support of usingorganizations. Its phases normally consist of: a. calibration, repair, or replacement ofdamaged or unserviceable parts, components, or assemblies; b. the emergencymanufacture of nonavailable parts; and c. providing technical assistance to usingorganizations.intermediate staging base — A tailorable, temporary location used for staging forces,sustainment and/or extraction into and out of an operational area.
