As Amended Through 15 March 2012cl<strong>and</strong>estine intelligence collection — The acquisition <strong>of</strong> protected intelligence information ina way designed to conceal the nature <strong>of</strong> the operation <strong>and</strong> protect the source. (<strong>JP</strong> 2-01.2)cl<strong>and</strong>estine operation — An operation sponsored or conducted by governmentaldepartments or agencies in such a way as to assure secrecy or concealment. Acl<strong>and</strong>estine operation differs from a covert operation in that emphasis is placed onconcealment <strong>of</strong> the operation rather than on concealment <strong>of</strong> the identity <strong>of</strong> the sponsor.In special operations, an activity may be both covert <strong>and</strong> cl<strong>and</strong>estine <strong>and</strong> may focusequally on operational considerations <strong>and</strong> intelligence-related activities. (<strong>JP</strong> 3-05.1)classes <strong>of</strong> supply — The ten categories into which supplies are grouped in order to facilitatesupply management <strong>and</strong> planning. I. Rations <strong>and</strong> gratuitous issue <strong>of</strong> health, morale,<strong>and</strong> welfare items. II. Clothing, individual equipment, tentage, tool sets, <strong>and</strong>administrative <strong>and</strong> housekeeping supplies <strong>and</strong> equipment. III. Petroleum, oils, <strong>and</strong>lubricants. IV. Construction materials. V. Ammunition. VI. Personal dem<strong>and</strong> items.VII. Major end items, including tanks, helicopters, <strong>and</strong> radios. VIII. Medical. IX.Repair parts <strong>and</strong> components for equipment maintenance. X. (<strong>JP</strong> 4-09)classification — The determination that <strong>of</strong>ficial information requires, in the interests <strong>of</strong>national security, a specific degree <strong>of</strong> protection against unauthorized disclosure,coupled with a designation signifying that such a determination has been made. (<strong>JP</strong> 2-01.2)classified information — Official information that has been determined to require, in theinterests <strong>of</strong> national security, protection against unauthorized disclosure <strong>and</strong> which hasbeen so designated. (<strong>JP</strong> 2-01.2)cleansing station — See decontamination station.clearance capacity — An estimate expressed in terms <strong>of</strong> measurement or weight tons perday <strong>of</strong> the cargo that may be transported inl<strong>and</strong> from a beach or port over the availablemeans <strong>of</strong> inl<strong>and</strong> communication, including roads, railroads, <strong>and</strong> inl<strong>and</strong> waterways. Theestimate is based on an evaluation <strong>of</strong> the physical characteristics <strong>of</strong> the transportationfacilities in the area. See also port capacity.clearance decontamination — The final level <strong>of</strong> decontamination that provides thedecontamination <strong>of</strong> equipment <strong>and</strong> personnel to a level that allows unrestrictedtransportation, maintenance, employment, <strong>and</strong> disposal.
