(<strong>JP</strong> 3-14)theater hospitalization capability — Essential care <strong>and</strong> health service support capabilitiesto either return the patient to duty <strong>and</strong>/or stabilization to ensure the patient can tolerateevacuation to a definitive care facility outside the theater. It includes modular hospitalconfigurations required to support the theater (emergency medical services, surgicalservices, primary care, veterinary services, dental services, preventive medicine, <strong>and</strong>combat <strong>and</strong> operational stress control, blood banking services, hospitalization,laboratory <strong>and</strong> pharmacy services, radiology, medical logistics <strong>and</strong> other medicalspecialty capabilities as required). (<strong>JP</strong> 4-<strong>02</strong>)theater missile — A missile, which may be a ballistic missile, a cruise missile, or an air-tosurfacemissile (not including short-range, non-nuclear, direct fire missiles, bombs, orrockets such as Maverick or wire-guided missiles), whose target is within a giventheater <strong>of</strong> operation. Also called TM. (<strong>JP</strong> 3-01)theater <strong>of</strong> operations — An operational area defined by the geographic combatantcomm<strong>and</strong>er for the conduct or support <strong>of</strong> specific military operations. (<strong>JP</strong> 3-0)theater <strong>of</strong> war — Defined by the President, Secretary <strong>of</strong> Defense, or the geographiccombatant comm<strong>and</strong>er as the area <strong>of</strong> air, l<strong>and</strong>, <strong>and</strong> water that is, or may become,directly involved in the conduct <strong>of</strong> major operations <strong>and</strong> campaigns involving combat.See also area <strong>of</strong> responsibility; theater <strong>of</strong> operations. (<strong>JP</strong> 3-0)theater patient movement requirements center — The activity responsible forintratheater patient movement management (medical regulating <strong>and</strong> aeromedicalevacuation scheduling), the development <strong>of</strong> theater-level patient movement plans <strong>and</strong>schedules, the monitoring <strong>and</strong> execution in concert with the Global Patient MovementRequirements Center. Also called TPMRC. (<strong>JP</strong> 4-<strong>02</strong>)theater special operations comm<strong>and</strong> — A subordinate unified comm<strong>and</strong> established by acombatant comm<strong>and</strong>er to plan, coordinate, conduct, <strong>and</strong> support joint specialoperations.
