As Amended Through 15 March 2012collection point — A point designated for the assembly <strong>of</strong> personnel casualties, stragglers,disabled materiel, salvage, etc., for further movement to collecting stations or rearinstallations. Also called CP. (<strong>JP</strong> 4-06)collection requirement — 1. An intelligence need considered in the allocation <strong>of</strong>intelligence resources. Within the Department <strong>of</strong> Defense, these collectionrequirements fulfill the essential elements <strong>of</strong> information <strong>and</strong> other intelligence needs<strong>of</strong> a comm<strong>and</strong>er, or an agency. 2. An established intelligence need, validated againstthe appropriate allocation <strong>of</strong> intelligence resources (as a requirement) to fulfill theessential elements <strong>of</strong> information <strong>and</strong> other intelligence needs <strong>of</strong> an intelligenceconsumer. (<strong>JP</strong> 2-01.2)collection requirements management — The authoritative development <strong>and</strong> control <strong>of</strong>collection, processing, exploitation, <strong>and</strong>/or reporting requirements that normally result ineither the direct tasking <strong>of</strong> assets over which the collection manager has authority, or thegeneration <strong>of</strong> tasking requests to collection management authorities at a higher, lower, orlateral echelon to accomplish the collection mission. (<strong>JP</strong> 2-0)collection resource — A collection system, platform, or capability that is not assigned orattached to a specific unit or echelon which must be requested <strong>and</strong> coordinated throughthe chain <strong>of</strong> comm<strong>and</strong>. (<strong>JP</strong> 2-01)collective protection — The protection provided to a group <strong>of</strong> individuals which permitsrelaxation <strong>of</strong> individual chemical, biological, radiological, <strong>and</strong> nuclear protection. Alsocalled COLPRO. (<strong>JP</strong> 3-11)colored beach — That portion <strong>of</strong> usable coastline sufficient for the assault l<strong>and</strong>ing <strong>of</strong> aregimental l<strong>and</strong>ing team or similar sized unit. In the event that the l<strong>and</strong>ing forceconsists <strong>of</strong> a single battalion l<strong>and</strong>ing team, a colored beach will be used <strong>and</strong> no furthersubdivision <strong>of</strong> the beach is required. (<strong>JP</strong> 3-<strong>02</strong>)combat air patrol — An aircraft patrol provided over an objective area, the force protected,the critical area <strong>of</strong> a combat zone, or in an air defense area, for the purpose <strong>of</strong>intercepting <strong>and</strong> destroying hostile aircraft before they reach their targets. Also calledCAP. See also airborne alert; barrier combat air patrol; rescue combat air patrol.(<strong>JP</strong> 3-01)combat <strong>and</strong> operational stress — The expected <strong>and</strong> predictable emotional, intellectual,physical, <strong>and</strong>/or behavioral reactions <strong>of</strong> Service members who have been exposed tostressful events in war or military operations other than war. Combat stress reactionsvary in quality <strong>and</strong> severity as a function <strong>of</strong> operational conditions, such as intensity,duration, rules <strong>of</strong> engagement, leadership, effective communication, unit morale, unitcohesion, <strong>and</strong> perceived importance <strong>of</strong> the mission.
