(<strong>JP</strong> 3-50)contact procedure — Those predesignated actions taken by isolated personnel <strong>and</strong>recovery forces that permit link-up between the two parties in hostile territory <strong>and</strong>facilitate the return <strong>of</strong> isolated personnel to friendly control. (<strong>JP</strong> 3-50)container — An article <strong>of</strong> transport equipment that meets American National St<strong>and</strong>ardsInstitute/International Organization for St<strong>and</strong>ardization st<strong>and</strong>ards that is designed to betransported by various modes <strong>of</strong> transportation. These containers are also designed t<strong>of</strong>acilitate <strong>and</strong> optimize the carriage <strong>of</strong> goods by one or more modes <strong>of</strong> transportationwithout intermediate h<strong>and</strong>ling <strong>of</strong> the contents <strong>and</strong> equipped with features permittingready h<strong>and</strong>ling <strong>and</strong> transfer from one mode to another. Containers may be fullyenclosed with one or more doors, open top, refrigerated, tank, open rack, gondola,flatrack, <strong>and</strong> other designs. See also containerization. This <strong>of</strong>ficer has custodial responsibility for containers fromtime received until dispatched. Containerization incorporates supply, transportation, packaging, storage, <strong>and</strong>security together with visibility <strong>of</strong> container <strong>and</strong> its contents into a distribution systemfrom source to user.
