Chapter four - Eugene Prewitt 139Another FactErnie has never asked people to believe his dreams because of the miracles hehas experienced. However, God often uses miracles to vindicate Hismessengers or simply just to encourage the messengers.God says:John 14:11Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believeme for the very works' sake.Exodus 4:1-9And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me,nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath notappeared unto thee. And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thinehand? And he said, A rod. And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he castit on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from beforeit. And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it bythe tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod inhis hand: That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, theGod of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appearedunto thee. And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine handinto thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took itout, behold, his hand was leprous as snow. And he said, Put thine handinto thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; andplucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his otherflesh. And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neitherhearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice ofthe latter sign. And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe alsothese two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of thewater of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thoutakest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.1 Kings 18:37-39Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou artthe LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again. Then thefire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in thetrench. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and theysaid, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.Selected Messages, Book 3, p. 38Some of the instruction found in these pages was given undercircumstances so remarkable as to evidence the wonder-working powerof God in behalf of His truth. Sometimes while I was in vision, myfriends would approach me, and exclaim, "Why, she does not breathe!"Placing a mirror before my lips, they found that no moisture gathered onthe glass. It was while there was no sign of any breathing that I kepttalking of the things that were being presented before me. Thesemessages were thus given to substantiate the faith of all, that in these lastdays we might have confidence in the Spirit of Prophecy.
