Chapter Seven - Linda Kirk 297us. The time will come when we shall see some strange things; but just inwhat way--whether similar to some of the experiences of the disciplesafter they received the Holy Spirit following the ascension of Christ--Icannot say.The Signs of the Times, January 12, 1882Our gracious Redeemer looked down the stream of time, and beheldthe perils that would in the last days surround his chosen. For ourencouragement he declares, in the words of the prophet Malachi: "Thenthey that feared the Lord speak often one to another; and the Lordhearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written beforehim for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. Andthey shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make upmy jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son thatserveth him."Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, p. 395He who has appointed "to every man his work," according to hisability, will never let the faithful performance of duty go unrewarded.Every act of loyalty and faith will be crowned with special tokens ofGod's favor and approbation. To every worker is given the promise: "Hethat goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless comeagain with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him."Webster’s 1828 Dictionary says:APPROBATION, n. [L. approbatio. See Proof and Prove.]1. The act of approving; a liking; that state or disposition of the mind, inwhich we assent to the propriety of a thing, with some degree ofpleasure or satisfaction; as, the laws of God require ourapprobation.2. Attestation; support; that is, active approbation, or action in favor ofwhat is approved.Loma Linda Messages, p. 574I thank the Lord that He encouraged me to walk by faith, and I praythat He will help you to show others their privilege in this matter.SummationGod does pour out special tokens and approbation on His people—Daniel,Moses, Elijah, Paul, and Ellen White are just some, as well as others in the lastdays.ConclusionWhat Linda sees as flattery in Ernie’s dreams is actually God’s way of not onlyshowing His love but also His encouragement for Ernie to keep going in spite ofopposition such as hers. Has Linda ever thought what it would be like if she hadto share similar dreams? Would Linda assume that Paul should not have beenhealing people, because it would make him proud as people flocked to him?Dreams confusing?
