He has littleinterest in studying either of them; and the angel has told him that thedreams will give him better spiritual guidance,—and that there are manynon-Scriptural ways to learn truth from God. This is from the transcript ofone of Ernie’s dreams:“As for me not having a broad understanding of the Bibleand Spirit of Prophecy, the Herald says that I have a broaderunderstanding than I might know [if he, Ernie, had botheredto study them], and that because I am not ordained of mandoes not mean I am not ordained of God. The angel says thatthe Great Teacher has many ways of teaching other than whatone can read in what He has written.”So he is saying that his “Herald” will teach him more than if he hadstudied the Bible or Spirit of Prophecy.”FactElder Ferrell likes to repeat this argument, obviously to make his readers comeaway thinking Ernie wants nothing to do with the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy.However this is completely untrue, as was pointed out earlier under “Ernie doesnot study.” Since Elder Ferrell has never met Ernie, how does he know howmuch of the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy he knows? We need to remember thatErnie has been an Adventist for almost 50 years. You cannot be an Adventistthat long and know little about the Bible or Spirit of Prophecy (writings of EllenWhite). The angel never told Ernie that he would get “better” spiritual guidancefrom his dreams than the Bible or Ellen White’s writings. The angel is simplysaying that there are other ways in addition to that. The angel did not say thereare many non-Scriptural ways to learn truth from God. He said there are manyways of teaching other than what one can read in what God has written.
