Chapter Seven - Linda Kirk 271whom He sees fit to send are weak, erring men; but to all who givethemselves wholly to His service He promises divine aid. His ownexample is an assurance that earnest, persevering supplication to God infaith--faith that leads to entire dependence upon God, and unreservedconsecration to His work--will avail to bring to men the Holy Spirit's aidin the battle against sin. (That is Ernie’s prayer.)ConclusionIf this is Linda’s “biggest red flag,” where is the biblical evidence to support it?Where does God instruct us that those who are discouraged or want to diecannot be God’s prophets?Did not know Christ?Linda Kirk says: (see Appendix L)“We are warned in God’s Word: ‘Looking diligently lest any man failof the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you,and thereby many be defiled;’ Hebrews 12:15‘Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:Neither give place to the devil.’ Eph 4:26,27In the above text, the word ‘place’ in the Greek means opportunity, power, occasion for action. According to your own testimony, you werein a miserable frame of mind that night. You had not spent significanttime in God’s Word, and admitted you didn’t know Christ.”FactHas Linda ever thought of the idea that because Ernie was not living the idealChristian life, that is why God decided to give him a dream to help him as wellas others in the same condition? Nebuchadnezzar, Saul and Ellen White areexamples of this. Why is it that people are willing to accept an evangelist orpastor even though their past life has not been exemplary, such as a life of theftor drug abuse? Why is this situation all of a sudden different when it comes tosomeone having dreams or visions in our day? What does Linda think aboutthe life of Abraham, David, or Moses who sinned while they were prophets butstill remained prophets for God? What does Linda think about the prophetHosea who married a prostitute because that is what God instructed? (SeeHosea chapters 1 and 2)In addition, Linda fails to mention that Ernie was praying to God that night andHe chose to answer his earnest request. Even after a life of sin, when a personsincerely comes to God in prayer, He does not cast them away as Linda has.Again, we are thankful that God is the Great Judge! He knows our heart andour motives.God says:Prophets and Kings, p. 520For seven years Nebuchadnezzar was an astonishment to all hissubjects; for seven years he was humbled before all the world. Then hisreason was restored and, looking up in humility to the God of heaven, herecognized the divine hand in his chastisement. In a public proclamationhe acknowledged his guilt and the great mercy of God in his restoration. The Acts of the Apostles, pp. 101-102
