Chapter 8Laura Lee JonesIntroductionIn April 2008, Laura Lee Jones sent a letter to David Gates (see Chapter 5) thatadmonished him to rethink his support of Ernie’s dreams. The letter makes a lotof accusations, but like so many other critics, it does not provide any proof.Manuscript Releases, Vol. 16, p. 215But there were quite a number who held fast their evil surmisings andclung to the distorted representations made of me, as though these reportswere too precious to be given up, although they had not one real vestigeof evidence that I had changed. It seemed to be their preference to believethe false reports. I felt deeply grieved that my brethren who had knownme for years and had evidence of the character of my labor shouldcontinue to remain in the deception they were in and, rather than confessthat they had been mistaken, hold on to the same false impressions asthough they were truth.Who is Laura Lee Jones?Laura Lee Jones is a mother of five children who co-authored a book with hermother titled, The Great Calendar Controversy, which promotes the keeping ofLunar Sabbaths. Laura Lee also promotes the keeping of the Jewish feastdays.
