284the TRUTH, the whole TRUTH, and nothing but the TRUTHdreams to become God’s last day message for His people, part of themessage we are commanded to believe as we bow before the beingprofessing to be Jesus who gave them? How do you explain that?”FactWe do not always perceive the significance of an event at the time. Godcontinued to knock at the door of Ernie’s heart until he opened it. Some willopen the door right away; for other’s it may take a lifetime. Unfortunately, themajority will never open the door. If Linda had searched God’s Word for theanswer, she would have found it.God says:Job 33:14-15For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In adream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, inslumberings upon the bed.ConclusionWe do not often understand the importance of something until the Holy Spiritreveals it to us later. Ellen White saw events in visions that she did not recalluntil the time when God wanted people to know what His messenger saw. Justbecause Ernie never recognized the divine origin of his first two dreams doesnot mean they were not from heaven. Before Ellen White had her first vision, which opened up the way for her ministry, she had two dreams. (See LifeSketches, chapter 4.) Ellen White had the first dream while she was in adreadful state of depression and it left her feeling worse. However, the nextdream was a comfort to her. At that time, she did not realize the full importanceof those dreams. If we use Linda’s reasoning, we would question the origin ofthose first two dreams, especially considering her state of mind, believing shewould be lost because she would not pray in prayer meetings. Why should wetreat Ernie differently? We cannot always understand God’s ways.Consulting godly menLinda Kirk says: (see Appendix L)“All of these things continued to add up, along with the concerns in thedreams themselves. Right at the beginning, we asked you if you hadcounseled with godly men regarding the source of these dreams, and ifyou were willing to be placed under close scrutiny. You had the attitudethat, since these dreams were from God Himself, you didn’t need to askanyone permission, or to seek anyone’s counsel. This is not how Godoperates in His church. He is the head, we are all part of the body. Notone part is to be exalted to the point of not needing to be examined, andconfirmed by the rest of the body.”FactErnie still abides by his answer given in Linda’s statement. Where does theBible tell us a prophet must first consult with godly men before they accept andpublish their message? There is not a command or example, for it neverhappened. The Board of For My People Ministry gives Ernie godly counsel, aswell as other individuals who provide Ernie with advice and counsel whether inperson or through phone calls and emails.
