Chapter Seven - Linda Kirk 293truth that they might keep their own traditions. Many had been impressedand almost persuaded; but they did not act upon their convictions, andwere not reckoned on the side of Christ. Satan presented his temptations, until the light appeared as darkness. Thus many rejected the truth thatwould have proved the saving of the soul. The Review and Herald, September 3, 1889In the days of Christ, there were many who beheld his mighty works, listened to his divine instruction, were impressed, and almost persuaded;but they did not profit by their privileges, for confession was not madeunto salvation. The impressions did not last because they did not act outtheir convictions, and those who had been almost persuaded, were notreckoned on the side of Christ. It is perilous to the soul to hesitate, question, and criticise divine light. Satan will present his temptations untilthe light will appear as darkness, and many will reject the very truth thatwould have proved the saving of their souls. Those who walk in its rayswill find it growing brighter and brighter unto the perfect day.Linda, being almost persuaded is not enough. Our prayer is that you can againreceive the joy you once had as you read the messages in Ernie’s dreams fromyour Savior. Whatever it is that pulled you away from the dreams, whether itwas fear, jealousy, pride, or just listening to others’ ideas, please take it to Godin prayer and to His Word with an open mind and humble heart, that you mayhear that still, small voice again calling you back to Jesus.Feeling aloneLinda Kirk says: (see Appendix L)“Something that surfaces in the dreams is your feeling of beingdiscouraged, alone or persecuted. Reference is made to spears andarrows.”FactAll God’s prophets have felt discouraged, alone and persecuted. Even Jesusfelt that way.God says:Jeremiah 15:16-18Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto methe joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORDGod of hosts. I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I satalone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation. Whyis my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to behealed? wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, and as waters that fail?Conflict and Courage, p. 279Aside from the joy that John found in his mission, his life had been oneof sorrow. His voice had been seldom heard except in the wilderness. Hiswas a lonely lot.Conflict and Courage, p. 216
