Chapter Seven - Linda Kirk 247The fact that He claimed to be the Sent of God, and yet refused to beIsrael's king, was a mystery which they could not fathom. His refusal wasmisinterpreted. Many concluded that He dared not assert His claimsbecause He Himself doubted as to the divine character of His mission. Thus they opened their hearts to unbelief, and the seed which Satan hadsown bore fruit of its kind, in misunderstanding and defection. Can a prophet ask questions in their dreams?Linda Kirk says: (see Appendix L)“There were several things that made me question the origin of thedreams right from the start. One of them was the fact that you could askthe “angel” anything you wanted in the dreams. It was not like you werereally asleep, but that you could have a list of questions that you wantedto ask, and talk to him as if you were awake.”FactBecky is periodically able to hear Ernie talking aloud in his dreams. As yet, shehas not heard him asking a question, only making statements or partialstatements. Perhaps the questions are just a part of the dreams and Godalready knows what Ernie would ask in those situations. How it all works we donot know for sure, but we do know that it happens. Just because we do notunderstand something, does not make it false. Linda, if God gave you theopportunity, would you not want to ask questions of Jesus or an angel in adream? Ellen White and Bible prophets freely asked God questions in theirdreams or visions, whether aloud or not, as seen in the following quotes.God says:Matthew 7:7Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and itshall be opened unto you:Daniel 7:16I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth ofall this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.Broadside1, April 6, 1846And as we were gazing at the glories of the place our eyes wereattracted upwards to something that had the appearance of silver. I askedJesus to let me see what was within there… And I saw a veil with a heavyfringe of silver and gold as a border on the bottom; it was very beautiful. Iasked Jesus what was within the veil… As we were travelling along, wemet a company who were also gazing at the glories of the place. I noticedred as a border on their garments; their crowns were brilliant; their robeswere pure white. As we greeted them, I asked Jesus who they were? Hesaid they were martyrs that had been slain for him.… And I saw the fruitof the tree of life, the manna, almonds, figs, pomegranates, grapes, andmany other kinds of fruit. We all reclined at the table. I asked Jesus to letme eat of the fruit. He said, not now. Those who eat of the fruit of thisland, go back to earth no more… I asked Jesus if his Father had a formlike himself. He said he had, but I could not behold it, for said he if youshould once behold the glory of his person you would cease to exist.
