300the TRUTH, the whole TRUTH, and nothing but the TRUTHEvangelism, p. 508Those who make singing a part of divine worship should select hymnswith music appropriate to the occasion, not funeral notes, but cheerful, yet solemn melodies. The voice can and should be modulated, softened, and subdued.Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, p. 492The melody of song, poured forth from many hearts in clear, distinctutterance, is one of God's instrumentalities in the work of saving souls. All the service should be conducted with solemnity and awe, as if in thevisible presence of the Master of assemblies.Fundamentals of Christian Education, p. 97The art of sacred melody was diligently cultivated. No frivolous waltzwas heard, nor flippant song that should extol man and divert theattention from God; but sacred, solemn psalms of praise to the Creator, exalting His name and recounting His wondrous works. Thus music wasmade to serve a holy purpose, to lift the thoughts to that which was pureand noble and elevating, and to awaken in the soul devotion and gratitudeto God.Selected Messages, Book 2, pp. 36, 38A bedlam of noise shocks the senses and perverts that which ifconducted aright might be a blessing. The powers of satanic agenciesblend with the din and noise to have a carnival, and this is termed theHoly Spirit's working. . . . Those things which have been in the past willbe in the future. Satan will make music a snare by the way in which it isconducted.Ernie’s dream says:A View of Heaven, December 10, 2006Pertaining to the style of music in our worship services, Jesusexplained that what we call Christian rock and praise music is anabomination to Himself and the Father. He explained that we begin ourworship services asking for the Holy Spirit to come. Why do we believethat they would be there in something that God finds an abomination. Heexplained that praise music is nothing more than repetition, a carefullydesigned instrument of worship by Satan himself. How wrong is it for us to bring the world’s popular type of music intoour body temple? How much worse is it for us to bring it into God's holytemple?ConclusionWhen read in context, there is nothing confusing in Ernie’s dream about theworship services Jesus likes. It clearly reveals that “Christian” rock and praisemusic (the repetitious, popular type) are an abomination to Jesus. Critics likeLinda also find it easier to quote the Bible or Spirit of Prophecy out of context tosupport their ideas. The reader can easily see that there should be noconfusion with what God has instructed regarding music.
