Figure 7.7c shows that labour cost per employee<br />

for electrical equipment industry registered higher<br />

growth compared to computer, electronic and<br />

optical products. This was reflected by a higher<br />

wage remuneration offered by the electrical<br />

equipment industry as compared to the latter. The<br />

wage increase of 3.1% was justifiable as compared<br />

to the productivity growth of 11.7% recorded by<br />

this industry.<br />

Figure 7.7d demonstrated that both industries<br />

within the E&E sub-sector registered a decline in<br />

their respective unit labour cost of 1.4%. This again<br />

reflected the cost competitiveness within the two<br />

industries.<br />

For the E&E sub-sector, NKEA’s initiatives have<br />

identified five areas of business opportunities with<br />

15 EPPs to further accelerate its growth. This will<br />
