2So MY MUSICAL EXPEDIENCES
printed by Breitkopf and Hartel, and the present little
paper will be included in a work just published by the
same firm, ' The Classical and Eomantic in the
World of Tone.' Professor Eiist, of Leipzig, said to
me in reference to La Mara, that she was more
12th of May, we have, in the autumn of the past
tone-creator for it. United with them, he carried to
the tomb the Hummel Field epoch, an epoch in
to replace it with the virtuosity of the romantic school
—a virtuosity rich in its subjective and idealistic ten-
dencies, and in its supreme control over the material
Supplement to the Leipziger Zeitung, and published with the
sanction of the author.
