without delay, there is one of the same to be had at
Haufstengel's, in Dresden.* Let me, however, hope,
honoured madam, that in some way or other I shall
succeed in making your acquaintance. My wife, who
wishes to be especially remembered to you, is quite as
impatient for this event as

Warmbrunn. May I ask you to enlighten me with
regard to No. 13, Wiirst, Op. 64, for I know nothing
about it ?t May I beg your kind indulgence for this
letter ? You can no doubt perceive with what difficulty
I write.'
I answered his question about Wurst in my next
letter, but, to the annoyance of the pedantic composer,
wrote the name Wurst so indistinctly that he at once
cut the piece out of my letter and enclosed it to me
with the following words :

'Warmbrunn, September 11th, 1883.
' Pray accept my best thanks fot your kind
* The composer's portrait was to appear in the new edition
of ' Musical Portrait Studies.'
