<strong>Rapporto</strong> attività scientifica <strong>2002</strong> 3.8. Attività di ricerca non inserite nelle Unità Funzionali Presso l’Osservatorio Vesuviano, quattro ricercatori, per propria scelta, non sono inseriti nelle attività delle Unità Funzionali. L’attività svolta nel <strong>2002</strong> da questo gruppo di ricercatori, sia in collaborazione fra loro sia in collaborazione con ricercatori di Università italiane e straniere, si è focalizzata sulle seguenti ricerche: 1. ricostruzione dell’assetto geologico-strutturale del Distretto Vulcanico Flegreo (Campi Flegrei, Procida e Ischia) attraverso studi vulcanologico-stratigrafici; 2. definizione della genesi e della storia evolutiva dei magmi eruttati nel Distretto Vulcanico Flegreo e in altre aree vulcaniche meridionali (Vulture, Isole Eolie); 3. definizione delle relazioni tra la tettonica distensiva del margine tirrenico-campano e la composizione dei magmi emessi al Distretto Flegreo; 4. studio della struttura crostale dell’area campana e del Tirreno Meridionale, dalla modellazione di dati di sismica attiva. Sono state inoltre avviate nuove linee di ricerca finalizzate alla ricostruzione della dinamica pre-eruttiva ed eruttiva di eventi esplosivi verificatisi ai Campi Flegrei (e.g. Monte Nuovo) e al Somma-Vesuvio; la definizione delle condizioni chimico-fisiche del degassamento e dei processi evolutivi dei magmi eruttati al Vesuvio nel periodo 1631-1944; e ricostruzione delle relazioni tra camere magmatiche e anomalie magnetico-gravimetriche in aree di rifting (Etiopia). Le attività descritte sono state oggetto di vari articoli submitted e di partecipazioni a Congressi Internazionali sotto forma di poster o comunicazioni orali.
