DB2 monitor resources monitor DB2 database that runs on the server.
DB2 monitor resources
Section II Resource details
Understanding DB2 monitor resources
Note 1 For the supported DB2 versions, refer to the Getting Started Guide.
Note 2 DLL interface (DB2CLI.DLL/DB2CLI64.DLL) needs to be installed on servers where
monitoring is performed because DB2 CLI is used for monitoring. For target
monitoring resources, specify a service resource or a script resource that starts DB2.
Monitoring starts after the target resource is activated; however, if the database cannot
be started right after the target resource is activated, adjust the time by using Wait
Time to Start Monitoring.
Note 3 A monitor table is created when monitoring is started and it is deleted when
monitoring is stopped due to the stop of the failover group. When monitoring is
temporarily stopped or when server fails before the failover group stops due to system
error, the monitor table will not be deleted. It is not an error even if an alert message
saying that “a monitor table exists” is displayed next time when monitoring is started.
Note 4 DB2 may produce operation logs for each monitoring. Configure DB2 settings if this
needs to be adjusted.
Monitoring by DB2 monitor resources
A monitor table is created on the database. Maximum of 10-digits numeric data is read and
written by issuing SQL statements. As a result of monitoring, the following is considered as an
error:
(1) When connection to the database fails.
(2) When an error is notified as a response to the issue of SQL statement.
(3) When the written data and read data do not match.
The SQL statement to use is: create/drop/insert/update/select.
Displaying and changing the disk DB2 monitor resource details
1. Click Monitors on the tree view displayed on the left side of the Builder window.
2. List of the monitor resources is displayed in the table view on the right side of the
screen. Right click the target DB2 monitor resource, and click the Parameter tab in the
Monitor Resource Property window.
3. On the Parameter tab, you can display and/or change the detailed settings by following
