Hong Long, completed her B.S. in Chemical Engineering<br />
with a Biomedical minor in 2011. As an<br />
undergraduate, Hong performed an REU at<br />
UMass Lowell, a university member of the<br />
Center for Highrate Nanomanufacturing. At<br />
the REU, Hong performed literature<br />
research on the dermal uptake of nanosize<br />
particles in consumer products. While<br />
completing her BSChE degree, Hong participated in co-op<br />
with the following companies: (1) Rohm and Haas in Woburn,<br />
MA as an R&D Co-op; (2) Abbott Labs in Worcester, MA as<br />
a Scale up lab and manufacturing Co-op. Hong was a<br />
participant in the 2006 LSAMP Diversity Summer Bridge<br />
Program as an incoming freshman.<br />
Markus Howard, is an Honors student pursuing a BS in<br />
Computer Engineering and a minor in<br />
Mathematics in the Northeastern University<br />
five-year B.S. co-op program. He is<br />
scheduled to graduate in 2013. Markus has<br />
participated in two co-ops thus far: (1) MIT<br />
Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington, MA; (2)<br />
FM Global in Johnston, RI. Markus plans to attend graduate<br />
school in the future. He was a participant in the 2009 LSAMP<br />
Diversity Summer Bridge Program as an incoming freshman.<br />
Awnalisa Walker, is a freshman planning to pursue a B.S. in<br />
Mechanical Engineering, in the Northeastern<br />
University five-year Co-op program. She is<br />
an NCAA Div-IAA recruited Soccer athlete<br />
from Sugar Land, Texas. Awnalisa was a<br />
participant in the 2011 LSAMP Diversity<br />
Summer Bridge Program as an incoming<br />
freshman, this summer.<br />
Amanda Tronchin, is a Ujima Scholar who is currently<br />
undeclared as a freshmen, but she is planning<br />
to pursue a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering,<br />
in the Northeastern University five-year Coop<br />
program. Amanda was a participant in the<br />
2011 LSAMP Diversity Summer Bridge<br />
Program as an incoming freshman, this<br />
Summer.<br />
Rhodesherdeline Limage, is a Gates Millenium Scholar who<br />
is coming through the General Studies Arts &<br />
Sciences program, who is planning to pursue a<br />
B.S. in Engineering, but has not decided upon<br />
an engineering discipline yet. She is planning<br />
to participate in the Northeastern University<br />
five-year Co-op program. Rhodesherdeline was a participant<br />
in the 2011 LSAMP Diversity Summer Bridge Program as an<br />
incoming freshman.<br />
Alex Matathia, is a Faith Leahy Scholarship recipient. Alex<br />
is a freshman planning to pursue a B.S. in<br />
Mechanical Engineering, in the Northeastern<br />
University five-year Co-op program. Alex was<br />
a participant in the 2011 LSAMP Diversity<br />
Summer Bridge Program as an incoming<br />
freshman.<br />

Rosibel Blandin, is currently pursuing a BS in Civil<br />
Engineering and a minor in Environmental<br />
Science as a member of the graduating class of<br />
2014. She participated in a 2010 Summer<br />
REU with the the Gordon-CENSSIS<br />
Engineering Research Center where she<br />
worked with an NU graduate student on soil<br />
remediation. Rosibel was a participant in the 2009 LSAMP<br />
Diversity Summer Bridge Program as an incoming freshman.<br />
Earl Williamson, graduated in May<br />
2011 with a BS in Civil Engineering and<br />
minor in Business Administration. He is<br />
currently employed by an engineering<br />
firm in Washington, D.C. Earl grew up<br />
in Boston, MA and as a result earned a<br />
Balfour Scholar when he entered<br />
Northeastern University as a freshman. Earl performed co-op<br />
roles at: (1) Turner Construction as a Field Engineer Co-op;<br />
(2) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as an Emergency<br />
Response student trainee. Earl was a freshman participant in<br />
the 2006 LSAMP Diversity Summer Bridge Program.<br />
Jennifer Mitchell, graduated in May 2011 with a BS in Civil<br />
and Environmental Engineering. As an<br />
undergraduate, she participated in three<br />
Co-ops: (1) Souza, True and Partners in<br />
Watertown, MA; (2) Simpson, Gumpertz,<br />
and Heger in Los Angeles, (3) Simpson,<br />
Gumpertz and Heger in Los Angeles,.<br />
Jennifer is currently pursuing her MS<br />
degree in Civil and Environmental<br />
Engineering in the Structural Engineering Mechanics and<br />
Materials (SEMM) Program at UC Berkeley.<br />
Johari Samuels realized that she excelled in math and science<br />
when she was in middle school; she became<br />
interested in building design and construction<br />
as well as improving neighborhood design.<br />
When her father explained about the different<br />
fields in engineering she knew she wanted to<br />
go into civil engineering. Currently a senior<br />
at Worcester Polytechnic Institute Johari has participated in<br />
the NYC Parks and Recreation Capital Projects Division and<br />
the Brooklyn Borough Presidents office in the Disabilities and<br />
Planning Department.<br />
Janneth Velazquez Rosales is currently in her junior year at<br />
Worcester Polytechnic Institute majoring in<br />
Civil Engineering with a concentration in<br />
Project Management and a minor in Spanish.<br />
She has been awarded the Marshall Chavez<br />
Mean’s Scholarship and the California<br />
Dollars for Scholars Scholarship. She is<br />
involved in the cheerleading club and is<br />
secretary of the cheer team. She is also a<br />
member of the Alpha Phi women’s fraternity and the Society<br />
of the Hispanic Professional Engineers.
