Layota Baskin completed her BS in Civil Engineering<br />

Technology in 2011. Under Wentworth Institute of<br />

Technology UMLSAMP mentorship she participated in three<br />

off-campus internships: Boston Water and Sewer,<br />

MassBiologics, and Parsons ($2.7B global firm for<br />

engineering, construction, technical, and management<br />

services. Latoya now works for Thompson Company Inc.<br />

Paul A. Britton Jr. completed his BS in Computer<br />

Engineering in 2011. While at Wentworth Institute of<br />

Technology he conducted several on campus intense research<br />

projects under the Urban Mass LSAMP program. He attained<br />

off-campus internships with the Dept. of Veteran Affairs,<br />

Hologic Corp., and at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) in<br />

California. He received the Fitzgerald Co-op Award (2011)<br />

and is attending the New York University Graduate School in<br />

Engineering.<br />

Monir Ejemel completed his BS in Honors in Biology in<br />

2011 at UMass Boston. As a UMLSAMP student he<br />

participated in four terms of research laboratory<br />

experimentation under Professor Rick Kesseli. Monir is<br />

currently taking additional post-baccalaureate courses and<br />

working part time as a research assistant as he decides which<br />

graduate course of study he wishes to pursue.<br />

Ron B. Jean completed his BS in Electronics Engineering in<br />

2011. Under UMLSAMP mentorship and support he<br />

conducted research projects at Wentworth Institute of<br />

Technology and was a research and development assistant for<br />

one of his professors. He also participated in internships at the<br />

following companies and organizations: Jacobs Engineering,<br />

Integrated Design Group, and the National Grid. Ron is<br />

currently in graduate school at the Polytechnic Institute of<br />

New York University for a MS degree in Electrical<br />

Engineering.<br />

Willems Leveille completed his BS in Civil Engineering from<br />

UMass Dartmouth in 2010. While in the UMLSAMP program<br />

he was one of only 20 students selected for Dr. Duran’s NSF<br />

International Center for Undergraduate Research Experiences<br />

program. Willems worked in a research project in Nairobi,<br />

Kenya under that program from May to August 2010. He<br />

currently works in technical assistant positions as he considers<br />

national or international education opportunities.<br />

Doris Nabikejje completed her BS in Nursing in 2011 at<br />

UMass Boston. Doris became an UMLSAMP student while at<br />

Bunker Hill Community College and attained her first<br />

university research experience while still enrolled at that<br />

institution. As a UMLSAMP student at UMass Boston she<br />

participated in four terms of on-campus mentored research<br />

laboratory work under Professor Michael Shiaris. Doris also<br />

obtained an internship with Genzyme Corporation after her<br />

sophomore year and an internship with the Dana Farber<br />

Cancer Institute after her junior year. Doris is planning on a<br />

career in medical research and is in the process of determining<br />

her route to that goal.<br />

Roodolph St. Pierre completed his BS in Honors in Biology<br />

in 2011. As a UMLSAMP student at UMass Boston he<br />

received referrals for two internships at the MIT/Harvard<br />

Broad Institute under the tutelage of Dr. Briggs, a Ph.D.<br />

scientist and former Meyerhoff Scholar. Roodolph also<br />

attained an internship at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute<br />

before he graduated and is now a Research Assistant there. He<br />

intends on going to graduate school or medical school in a<br />

year’s time.<br />
