Personal Statement: I believe that the FGLSAMP Project helped me by not only funding some of my<br />

tuition, but the meetings that were held helped keep my educational and personal perspectives in order.<br />

It helped me better appreciate my experiences and steps to becoming a scientist.<br />

Personal Statement: FGLSAMP was very influential in many of the decisions that I made during my<br />

college years and thus shaped many things that developed later in my life.<br />

Current Status: Allegation Coordinator for the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Manage the<br />

agency's allegations of wrongdoing against licensees for the Atlanta regional office (Region II) and<br />

coordinate investigations.<br />

Personal Statement: If it wasn’t for FGLSAMP, I don't know how I would've made it through school.<br />

FGLSAMP not only provided me with much needed funds for school, but also tutoring when I needed<br />

it, and an office position to help supplement my living expenses. Mr. Black was also a great supporter<br />

and mentor for me.<br />

Personal Statement: While growing up, I never thought I would have the opportunity or even the<br />

capacity to earn a Bachelor’s degree much more a Doctorate degree. I owe a lot of my motivation to the<br />

FGLSAMP and the discussion I heard regarding earning a terminal degree at the many Expos.<br />

Name: Osedra Siler (Computer Science)<br />

Year of B.S. Degree: Fall 2007<br />

Current Status: Currently lead two minority STEM high school programs and for the past two years, all<br />

of participating students have been accepted and/or attending college.<br />

Personal Statement: The FGLSAMP project exposed me to graduate studies opportunities and<br />

preparation to get accepted in a STEM graduate program. The project also gave me the chance to<br />

network with other students in various STEM studies, which motivated me to continue my goals with<br />

their support.<br />

Personal Statement: I am truly appreciative of the FGSLAMP Program and over the years I have<br />

benefited greatly from being a part of it. During my time at FAMU the FGLSAMP program provided<br />

me with guidance, encouragement that made the long journey toward a PhD considerably more<br />

manageable. I owe the program a debt of gratitude and I hope that it continues to positively impact the<br />

lives of other STEM major students.<br />
