Natnael Jemal Ahmed is a second year<br />
electrical engineering student at Morgan<br />
State University in Baltimore, Maryland.<br />
He has participated in programs such as<br />
CASA Program, Summer Cutch-Up<br />
Program and SEM Financial Awards Programs. He is also an<br />
Honors student. In addition, he is on the dean’s list with a<br />
cumulative GPA of 3.742. He is currently working hard to<br />
become an engineer and to be the first person to graduate from<br />
college in his family.<br />
Dacia Tarleton, who holds a BS in electrical engineering<br />
from Morgan State University and a<br />
master’s in electrical engineering from<br />
Cornell University, graduated with her<br />
MBA from Georgia Institute of<br />
Technology in May 2011. While at<br />
Morgan State, Tarleton was a member<br />
of the Tau Beta Pi national Honor<br />
Society. During her junior year at<br />
Morgan State she was a recipient of the Duracell/NUL<br />
Scholarship/Intern Program for Minority Students. Today, she<br />
works as a senior consultant with North Highland. As an<br />
advocate for giving back to the community, Tarleton has lead<br />
projects with Hands on Atlanta and worked in the Atlanta nonprofit<br />
community through Georgia Tech’s Pro Bono<br />
Consulting Program, which helps Atlanta nonprofits resolve<br />
key strategic challenges.<br />
Willie Smith earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering in 1997<br />
from Morgan State University and a M.S.<br />
degree in Systems Engineering from John<br />
Hopkins University in 2001. He began his<br />
career as an E-Business Consultant for IBM<br />
Global Services in 1997 and is currently a<br />
Quality Assurance Release Lead with UPS.<br />
While attending Morgan State University,<br />
Mr. Smith tutored and mentored with SEM<br />
Math & Science Tutoring Program. Also he received financial<br />
support to attend several conferences.<br />
Ugochukwu Madu participated in the SEM Summer<br />
Research (Summer 2011). He joined<br />
the Morgan State University,<br />
Engineering program and became<br />
exposed more in depth to the STEM<br />
world. He was involved in researching<br />
about Solar panels as a source of<br />
energy and also researching about the<br />
accompanying electronic equipment that is necessary to make<br />
solar panel systems work. He was also involved in the design<br />
and optimization of an inverter- which is one of the electronic<br />
equipment that enable the use of solar panels. He has been on<br />
the Dean’s List at Morgan State, and he is also a student<br />
member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics<br />
Engineers (IEEE). He is currently in his senior year in the<br />
Electrical Engineering Program at Morgan State University.<br />

Tara Cousin enrolled in Morgan State University in August<br />
2003 with an undecided major. She decided<br />
to major Industrial Engineering and was a<br />
participant in the Summer Catch-Up<br />
program, a recipient of the SEM Financial<br />
Awards Program. She graduated in May of<br />
2009 with a Bachelors of Science degree in<br />
Industrial Engineering, and landed her a<br />
promising career at Raytheon Missile<br />
Systems in Tucson, Arizona where she works as an Industrial<br />
Engineer for Electro-Optical Operations Center. She is<br />
currently the President of the National Society of Black<br />
Engineers for the city of Tucson.<br />
Karima S. Al-Bari graduated from Morgan State University<br />
in 2008 with a B.S. Degree in Civil<br />
Engineering. As an undergraduate,<br />
Karima was mentored by Dr. John<br />
Wheatland, coordinator of LSAMP<br />
programs, and she was awarded each<br />
semester the Science Engineering and<br />
Mathematics financial award from 2004<br />
to 2008. Between those years she was also a member of many<br />
other LSAMP Programs. With the support of the LSAMP<br />
programs, she was able to participate in the HBCU summit to<br />
report on Morgan State LSAMP student progress. Upon<br />
graduating, Karima landed a full time position with Clark<br />
Construction, LLC.<br />
Brian Roye - B.S. Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering)<br />
May 2011. Brian started out doing<br />
architectural related courses at CCBC. After<br />
which, he transferred into Morgan as a<br />
freshman in the year 2007. He participated in<br />
one of the PACE summer program(Preaccelerated<br />
Curriculum for Engineers. Brian<br />
participated in several summer internships; including the<br />
Bureau of Water and Waste Water (Storm Water Engineering)<br />
for Baltimore City. Brian is now pursuing his master’s degree<br />
in civil engineering with a concentration on structural<br />
engineering at Johns Hopkins University. He hopes to<br />
graduate in December 2012.<br />
Angelitta Marie Britt completed her B.S. in Mathematics in<br />
2008 from Norfolk State University,<br />
where she was a full academic<br />
scholarship recipient and WBHR-<br />
LSAMP researcher. After graduation she<br />
was awarded the George Washington<br />
Carver Fellowship to attend Purdue<br />
University for the Ph.D. Angelitta<br />
participated in Alliances for Graduate<br />
Education and the Professoriate (AGEP)<br />
national conferences and after completing<br />
her M.S. degree she began working as a consultant for<br />
Statistical Consulting Service (SCS), Department of<br />
Statistics, at Purdue.
