Marquita Dill earned her B.S. in<br />
Agriculture from the University of<br />
Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). While an<br />
undergraduate at UMES, she participated in<br />
a summer research program at Purdue<br />
University and conducted research entitled<br />
The Use of Degermed, Dehulled Corn to<br />
Reduce Phosphorus Excretion in Broiler Chicks. She<br />
completed her M.S. program in Exercise Physiology with a<br />
minor in Gerontology in the Department of Health and<br />
Kinesiology at Purdue University in 2010.<br />
Marissa D. Dixon earned her B.S. in<br />
Biology from the University of Maryland<br />
Eastern Shore (UMES). In addition to being<br />
an LSAMP student, she also was a MARC<br />
U*STAR student while an undergraduate at<br />
UMES. She participated in the National<br />
Institute on Aging Intramural Research<br />
Program Summer Student Program in 2005.<br />
She completed her M.P.H. program at the<br />
University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.<br />
Jazalyn Dukes enrolled at the<br />
University of Maryland, College<br />
Park as a Gates Millennium Scholar<br />
and a Banneker/Key Scholar. She<br />
earned her B.S. in Civil Engineering<br />
(CE) in 2008. She was awarded an<br />
NSF Graduate Research Fellowship<br />
to pursue her M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil<br />
Engineering at the Georgia Institute<br />
of Technology in 2008. She completed her M.S. program in<br />
CE in 2009. In 2011, she was awarded a SMART fellowship,<br />
in partnership with ASEE and the Department of Defense for<br />
the remainder of her Ph.D. program. She currently is under<br />
the advisement of Dr. Reginald DesRoches, a renowned expert<br />
in the field of hazard mitigation, on improving the<br />
performance of bridges under seismic loading.<br />
Kafui Dzirasa, M.D., Ph.D. earned his<br />
B.S. magna cum laude in Chemical<br />
Engineering from the University of<br />
Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) in<br />
2001. As an undergraduate at UMBC, he<br />
had extensive domestic and international<br />
research internship experiences, ranging<br />
from Exxon Mobil to Lancaster<br />
University in Lancaster, England. He<br />
completed his Ph.D. program in<br />
Neurobiology (2007) and his M.D. program (2009) at the<br />
Duke University School of Medicine. He also completed a<br />
two-year postdoctoral fellowship in Neurobiology at the Duke<br />
University Medical Center in 2009. His current position is<br />
Assistant Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences,<br />
Division of Geriatric Psychiatry, Duke Institute for Brain<br />
Sciences, Duke University School of Medicine.<br />
Stacy B. Dutton, Ph.D. earned her B.S. in<br />
Biology from the University of Maryland<br />
Eastern Shore in 2005. Her recent<br />
research is entitled The Effect of Cell<br />
Specific Deletion of Nav1.1 on Seizure<br />
Generation. She completed her Ph.D.<br />
Neuroscience program in the Department<br />
of Human Genetics at the Emory<br />
University School of Medicine in 2011, and she has received a<br />
Postdoctoral Fellowship to continue her research at Emory.<br />
Chima J. Ebinama earned his B.S. in<br />
Computer Engineering from the<br />
University of Maryland, College Park<br />
(UMD) in 2011. While at the UMD, he<br />
participated in the LSAMP Undergraduate<br />
Research Program under the mentorship<br />
of Dr. Shuvra Bhattacharyya. He tested<br />
software tools that assisted in the design of digital signal<br />
processing embedded systems, and he assisted in the<br />
organization of the testing environment. He also served as the<br />
2009-2010 President of the Black Engineers Society (UMD<br />
Chapter of NSBE). In 2009, the chapter won Distinguished<br />
Chapter of the Year.<br />
Chineye D. Emeche earned her B.S. in<br />
Biology from the University of<br />
Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in<br />
2006. In addition to being an LSAMP<br />
student, she also was a MARC U*STAR<br />
student while an undergraduate at<br />
UMES. She participated in the National<br />
Institute on Aging Intramural Research<br />
Program Summer Student Program.<br />
Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in<br />
Immunology conducting research in the<br />
lab of Ted M. Ross, Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh<br />
School of Medicine.<br />
Adetokunbo (Lola) O. Eniloa-<br />
Adefeso, Ph.D. began her higher<br />
education at the Community<br />
College of Baltimore County.<br />
After transferring to the University<br />
of Maryland, Baltimore County<br />
(UMBC), she earned her B.S.E.<br />
magna cum laude in Chemical<br />
Engineering in 1999. She developed her love of research<br />
while and undergraduate when she was both an LSAMP<br />
Scholar and a McNair Scholar. She completed her Ph.D.<br />
program at the University of Pennsylvania in 2004. She won a<br />
CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation<br />
(NSF). Also, she has been selected as the 2011 recipient of<br />
the Lloyd N. Ferguson Young Scientist award by the National<br />
Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black<br />
Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE). This award<br />
recognizes and honors her scientific contributions and<br />
achievements and her dedication to research.<br />
