Brooke C. Coley, Ph.D. earned her<br />
B.S. cum laude in Chemical<br />
Engineering from the University of<br />
Maryland, Baltimore County in 2003.<br />
She completed her Ph.D. program in<br />
Bioengineering at the University of<br />
Pittsburgh in 2010. Her dissertation<br />
is entitled Adaptive Postural<br />
Strategies: Impact of Aging. While a<br />
graduate student at the University of Pittsburgh, she also<br />
played professional football for an all women’s team.<br />
Kalonji R. Collins, M.D, Ph.D.<br />
earned his B.S. in Chemistry from the<br />
University of Maryland, Baltimore<br />
County in 1996. He completed his<br />
Ph.D. program in Molecular Virology<br />
in 2002 and his M.D. program in 2005<br />
at Case Western Reserve University.<br />
His dissertation is entitled The Effects<br />
of Tuberculosis on HIV-1<br />
Heterogeneity, Quasispecies Distribution, and Implications on<br />
Viral Fitness. He has obtained board certification from the<br />
member board for Rheumatology and Internal Medicine. His<br />
current practice is located in the area of Springfield, VA.<br />
Roshé Copeland earned her B.S. in Civil<br />
Engineering from the University of<br />
Maryland, College Park (UMD). As an<br />
undergraduate, she participated in the<br />
LSAMP Undergraduate Research<br />
program and presented during the<br />
University’s Undergraduate Research<br />
Day. Since graduation, she has been<br />
working as a structural engineer<br />
designing transportation structures at<br />
HDR Engineering, Inc. Also, she currently is working on an<br />
M.E. degree in Structural Engineering at UMD with an<br />
expected graduation date of May 2013.<br />
Sylvia Dasi earned her B.S. in Biology<br />
from the University of Maryland<br />
Eastern Shore in 2008. She was<br />
honored with an award for research<br />
she presented at the Annual<br />
Biomedical Research Conference for<br />
Minority Students (ABRCMS) in<br />
Anaheim, California in November<br />
2006. In the summer of 2008, she<br />
participated in the National Institute on<br />
Aging Intramural Research Program. Currently, she is a Ph.D.<br />
candidate in Genetics and Human Genetics at Howard<br />

Patrice N. Cook-Harris earned her<br />
B.S. in Biology with honors from the<br />
University of Maryland Eastern Shore<br />
in 2006. She completed her M.S.<br />
program in Cancer Biology at the<br />
University of Miami School of<br />
Medicine in 2011. Her thesis is titled<br />
Development and Characterization of<br />
Anti-CD20-NKG2D-Ligand Fusion Proteins. Currently, she is<br />
continuing her work to complete her Ph.D.<br />
Jeanette Davis earned her B.S. in<br />
Marine Science from Hampton<br />
University in 2004, and she received a<br />
2008-10 LSAMP Bridge to the<br />
Doctorate Fellowship at the University<br />
of Maryland, College Park (UMD).<br />
Currently she is a Ph.D. student in<br />
Marine Biotechnology at UMD. Her research working on the<br />
symbionts associated with the Hawaiian mollusk Elysia<br />
rufescens and their role in the production of the anti-cancer<br />
compound kahalaide F is supported by the Living Marine<br />
Resources Cooperative Science Center (LMRCSC). She has<br />
presented her work in Qingdao, China.<br />
Veronica O. Davis, P.E. earned her<br />
B.S. in Civil Engineering from the<br />
University of Maryland, College<br />
Park. In addition, she has completed<br />
two master’s degree programs<br />
(Engineering Management and<br />
Regional Planning) at Cornell<br />
University. She currently is a Partner<br />
and Principal Planner at Nspiregreen, LLC. She is responsible<br />
for the management of the major planning functions such as<br />
transportation planning, economic analysis, market analysis,<br />
planned development, policy development, sustainability<br />
analysis, and long range planning. She is a member of the<br />
American Planning Association, the American Society of<br />
Civil Engineers, and the National Society of Black Engineers.<br />
She is a registered professional engineer in the District of<br />
Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia.<br />
Robert T. Deloatch earned his<br />
B.S. magna cum laude in<br />
Computer Science from the<br />
University of Maryland,<br />
Baltimore County (UMBC) in<br />
2011. As an undergraduate at<br />
UMBC, he conducted research<br />
guided by his faculty mentor, Dr.<br />
Marie desJardins, Professor, Department of Computer Science<br />
and Electrical Engineering entitled Developing an Intelligent<br />
Tutoring System for CS1 Students. He currently is enrolled in<br />
a Ph.D. program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-<br />
Champaign.
